July Craftsman
06 Jul 2017
OFFICIAL NOTICE! This is an Official Notice that at the July Monthly Meeting we will have the third (3) and final reading of a Resolution to amend the By-laws of Local 263, and then discussion on the Resolution, then we will vote by secret ballot to approve or disapprove. The reason for the updating of the Bylaws, they will have to be submitted this year when the Local submits their annual LM-3 to the Department of Labor and that will be due September 28, 2017. Work is still better than Good. We need qualified Journeymen. We have one job with 5 Local hands and 40 travelers. It looks like work will continue this good or better for the rest of this year and into 2018. Be aware that there will be a new prescription savings card coming out in July it’s called Sav-Rx. All indications are that if you use a lot of prescription drugs this will save you money. I will believe it when I see it. Lord knows we could use the help! Jerrod Strange has resigned as Business Agent, Vice -President and District Council Delegate from Local 263. Brother Strange was offered and accepted the opportunity to work for the District Council as an Organizer. He will be taking the late Art Casillas’s place. When you see Jerrod congratulate him on his new job. I personally want to Thank Jerrod for his hard work and dedication to the Local over the past 20 plus years. I know the sacrifices he and his family have made while he has served this Local Union. I have appointed Carlos Gonzalez as Business Agent for West Texas to take Jerrod’s place. Carlos has been working as an Organizer for Local 263 for almost a year now and has been doing an excellent job. He has gotten to know the Contractors and the Members in the area, and I am confident that he will be an asset to the Local in that position. Carlos has the same phone number that Jerrod had it is 817/371-7574, if you need to talk to him. Carlos has a lot to learn, so be patient with him and give him your support. In order to make Carlos life a little easier, he will not be taking Union Dues just yet. If you want to pay dues call the Union Hall and pay with a credit card or mail a check or money order.
