RETIREE CHRISTMAS LUNCHEON
The Annual Retirees Christmas Luncheon is Friday December 9, 2016 at Noon. Make your Plans, now to attend. This year we are planning on having the Luncheon at the New Apprenticeship Building located at 616 N Great Southwest Pkwy, just 3 buildings North of the Union Hall. Please call the Union Hall by December 5, so we can get a count of who is coming, so we can get our order in.
Training classes are as follows. Upcoming Training Classes for El Paso, Crane Signaling classes will Start December 3, 4, 10, and 11, 2016. Rigging classes Start January 7, 8, 14, and 15. Again these training dates are for El Paso only! Journey men who do not have these classes will not be referred to Work. Dallas/Fort Worth Training classes for January 2017. OSHA-30 and SUBPART-R, January 7, 8, 14, and 15. Crane Signaling January 21, 22, 28, and 29. Rigging February 4, 5, 11, and 12. Also there will be a Welding Certification class January 21. ALL TRAINING CLASSES START AT 7:00 A.M., IF YOU CAN’T BE THERE AT 7:00 A.M., DON’T BOTHER COMING, YOU WILL NOT BE ADMITTED!

Texas AFL-CIO College Scholarship Applications are in my office. If you have a High School Senior and they want to apply, please come by and get an application or call me and I will e-mail a copy to you. These applications must be in by January 31, 2017 to be considered. The Local 263 applications will be available after the first of the year.
The Holidays are here and these questions come up every year. Here is the wording straight from the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA). Overtime and Holidays Any work in excess of forty (40) hours per week, or Ten (10) hours per day will be paid at a rate of time and one-half (1-1/2) the regular rate. Based on starting time, a day shall be from the regular starting time on one day to the regular starting time of the next day, all time on Sundays shall be paid at the rate of time and one-half (1-1/2). All time on Holidays shall be paid at the rate of double time. No work shall be performed on Labor Day, except to save life or property. Minimum straight time and overtime pay shall be fifteen (15) minutes. The following Holidays are agreed to: New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, July Fourth, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Friday after Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day. Any Holiday which occurs on a Sunday shall be observed the following Monday. The Union Hall will close at Noon on Wednesday November 23, 2016, the day before Thanksgiving. Then close again at Noon on Friday December 23, 2016 and Friday December 30, 2016. We will return on Tuesday December 27 and Tuesday January 2, at regular business hours. The Local has completed and submitted the Financials for the physical year July-2015 thru June 2016, which include the LM-3 report for the Department of Labor, Annual Audit for the International, Trustee’s Audit for International, and the Form 990 for the Internal Revenue Service(IRS).
The Good News is after a couple of slow months of work, it looks like we will have more jobs than we have Members in the upcoming months not only in the D/FW area but also in West Texas and Amarillo. We are looking for Qualified Journeymen and Apprentices.
